The Adobe DNG Converter is a free utility that enables you to easily convert camera-specific raw files from more than 350 cameras to the more universal DNG raw format. Digital Negative (DNG) is an openly published raw file specification that stores the “RAW” pixel data. However, I cannot update Adobe DNG Converter 13.0. This is the question! I have never had a problem updating Adobe DNG Converter. I use Windows 10 What could be the problem? I am using the same computer and operating system as always. What are the consequences of not updating Adobe DNG Converter 13.0?

Is there any way to make the 'New version of Adobe DNG Converter available' pop up screen not appear when starting LRTimelapse?
The problem is that I am currently running Windows 7 on my computer because when I had Windows 10 I had a bunch of stability issues. It's an older computer but still runs fine otherwise.
When I start LRTimelapse I get this window pop up but I can't download the Version 13.0.0 of the Adobe DNG Converter because it is only for Windows 10 so I have to click the 'No' button every time.

Description:

I use DNG Converter to pre-process camera RAW files to DNG format before importing into Lightroom (Classic).

I use Windows 8.1 (officially supported until Jan 2023) and DNG Converter 12.4 (Date 08/18/2020).

Now I buy a new camera, and of course I want the latest DNG Converter that supports my (new) camera RAW files.

After downloading the latest version of DNG Converter I find that it will not install and the DNG Converter installation routine says: 'Windows 10 and above required'

Summary:

DNG Converter 12.4 Date 08/18/2020 installs and works with Windows 8.1 and even works with Windows 7 (official documentation).

DNG Converter 13.0 Date 10/19/2020 will *NOT* install (Win 8.1) Error 'Windows 10 and above required'

DNG Converter 13.1 Date 12/08/2020 will *NOT* install (Win 8.1) Error 'Windows 10 and above required'


Request:
Can Adobe please maintain backward COMPATIBILITY with the previous OS levels (at least while they are officially supported? Version 12.4 (issued 4 months ago was backward compatible with all Windows versions).


Adobe says:

'Adobe provides backwards compatibility for the latest cameras for use in older versions of Photoshop, Lightroom, Bridge, After Effects, and Photoshop Elements through the DNG Converter.'


But the DNG converter (tool) is now NOT backward compatible with anything except Windows 10. (Since DNG Converter 13.0 Date 10/19/2020)

Should we really require a user to upgrade their entire Operating System for a 'simple' RAW to DNG converter tool?
